Current Content: 340 locations,  ca. 1000 individual walks and over 3000 kms of walking!

Note: The site is still under construction (and may never be finished!).  So, try it out - but remember that it's work in progress and many walks are not yet described.

Our Maps

Our Maps is a website developed by the Walking Access Commission - a government agency set up to sort out the confusion over public access to the countryside in New Zealand. The website provides interactive maps showing roads (including paper roads), tracks, trails, easements and areas which are legally open to the public. The information provided about tracks is, unfortunately, much more limited than it used to be, and there are no longer indications of whether walks are dog-friendly. Also, many of the links to further information are highly generic and don't help much. Even so, it's a very useful resource, and is worth visiting if you want to check out details of tracks before your trip. To do so, go to:
